Jaanakiyan features a vignette about the daughter of King Janaka -Seeta’ssentience comes through by way of dance and verse. Her feelings about Rama and Raavana, the yin and yang; the passion, compassion, terrors and triumphs of her life are portrayed through the timeless magnificence of Kuchipudi and some exquisite Marathi poetry. Tridha is a Sanskrit word which means the power combined of the three Goddesses from Hindu Mythology –Goddess Parvati, Goddess Sarawati, and Goddess Laxmi. With this project, Sukanya Kulkarni, Anuja Chavan, and Kohinoor Darda hope to harness the vast potential of the Bharatnatyam and Kuchipudi Indian classical dance styles in order to make dance accessible to the audiences in India and abroad. By blending contemporary music and issues, and traditional dance, they hope to create videos that will engage and enthrall the common man and interest them in these classical art forms. Their videos and blogs are for both artists and laymen alike –by providing important information and “what’s new” in the field of dance today, Tridha aims at reaching higher levels in dance choreography, performance, and outreach every day!
